Visual Language Magazine ~ Sharing my story!

I’d like to thank the good people at Visual Language Magazine for publishing an article featuring my maritime paintings and my career.  They were wonderful to work with and very professional.

It doesn’t seem all that long ago that my wife and I sold our house, packed our bags, and moved to Maine to pursue my art career.  Painting most everyday for 24 years has been a dream come true.  Being asked to tell my story in this article gave me a chance to reminisce and appreciate my longevity in my chosen field.

When I sold one of my first paintings in college of a snow covered bridge to a roommate for $25, it was an incredible feeling.  I was so surprised that someone would buy something I painted.  The same feeling of excitement came when the first gallery said they would be happy to represent me and show my work.  Ups and downs are a big part of being in the art business, but the ups sure make it all worthwhile!

Having others find enjoyment and meaning in my paintings is incredibly rewarding.

Hopefully what people will gain from reading my story is that by following my passion my life’s purpose became clear.  Life is not an easy journey, but if you enjoy what you do the journey is so much better.  Thanks again VLM for sharing my story with your many readers!

One of the joys of being an artist is having the freedom to follow my passion...
